Why go

Legend says the palms grew from date stones dropped by the Almoravid army. Today the Palmeraie is a mix of open palm groves, villas and resorts, and the starting point of most camel rides and quad tours.

It is not a site to walk around on your own: go with an activity, or stay in one of its hotels.

Tips

A camel ride at sunset is the classic way to see it.
Allow 20 minutes by taxi from the Medina.
Photo tip: Camel silhouettes between the palm trunks against a low sun, in the last hour of light.
