Why go
It is down a lane behind the madrasa, and many visitors heading for Ben Youssef never notice the sign.
A private collection of thousands of prints, glass plates and postcards shows the country before and after the French protectorate: Berber villages, caravans, Marrakech streets that look much the same today.
Finish on the roof terrace, with a view over the Medina to the Atlas and a simple lunch or mint tea.

- The rooftop café is worth timing for lunch.
- The documentary on the High Atlas, shown upstairs, is one of the first colour films of the region.
